Jo Nagasaka: On My Mind

Schemata Architects - lead by Jo Nagasaka, and often introduced in lifestyle/cultural magazines in addition to architectural magazines - design various shop spaces in Tokyo today. They enjoy designing in a variety of areas, including cafes/shops (e.g., "Blue Bottle Coffee" and "TODAY'S SPECIAL"), renovations of houses/galleries, newly-built houses, furniture, and exhibition site setups. With ease, they update the required format of spaces and existing methods of space creation. Much attention is paid to their future activities overseas. This book multilaterally examines architect Jo Nagasaka and his attitude towards architecture, by combining and organizing "thoughts on Jo Nagasaka" (contributions, interviews, and mail) from seven contributors (clients and collaborators) and Nagasaka's "thoughts on his mind" for each work or experience. In this book, Nagasaka ponders after listening to comments from various people and things, just like in his works. Readers might have fun imagining what Nagasaka would create in the future.
